want to be the next president? visit this place now…

The Jimmy Carter Presidential Library is a brilliant place which details the history of the 39th president of the United States; one that was home grown in Georgia, with his parents being peanut farmers, and his epic rise to stardom, entailing his whole childhood, and how he got his very own rise to being the leader of one of the biggest economies in the world. Today, while I am reviewing the museum, I will be giving a brief overview of what the museum would be looking like, my favourite part, and why you should visit it.

The Jimmy Carter Library, located in near Atlanta and Inman Park, the Presidential Library is over 6,840 square feet, outside containing lucious parks, waterfalls and fountains that includes historic flowers, which is definitely a great place to take photos and enjoy quality time before or after your visit.

When you first come into the Museum, you will be taken to a short 15 minute short movie, which describes his childhood, his presidential legacy, and also what he did after. This is basically a short time lapse of what you are going to see in the museum, which includes his early life, presidential term, and also how he contributed to the world after his presidential term. Although the movie kind of spoils what you will see during the museum, it also gives good insight into what you will find in the museum and is brilliant for people who don’t know much about Jimmy Carter.

When you first walk into the official museum, you will be greeted with a flurry of pictures and short captions about his early childhood. Turns out, Jimmy had humble times growing up. He lived on a peanut farm, with his father and mother, in a town a couple of hours outside of Atlanta. His dad sold the majority of peanuts that were accessible to people in their town, so they also showed different sacks that their dad used, and also the advertising he did to sell these peanuts. We also saw the teachers that he was taught by. One of Mr Carter’s favourite teachers (I unfortunately forgot the name) inspired the whole class that they could be anything they wanted to be; including if they put in the hard work. That same teacher actually checked if his teeth were fine or not, and put that on his report card, along with his grades in different subjects, something I found interesting they did in the olden times.

We found out that Jimmy actually wanted to be a naval officer because one of his favourite uncles was in the navy. He enrolled in the navy, and his life seemed set, until tragedy struck. His father, a long time worker, was diagnosed with cancer. When Jimmy went back to spend some time with his father, he was surprised to see that lots of people came to congratulate his dad. Why? Apart from being a peanut farmer, his father was also very good at helping people solve issues, and listening to people. Wanting to follow in his fathers footsteps, and help other people, Carter eventually decided to be a politician to help people in need.

Throughout the rest of the visit, we saw his journey; how he failed in different elections and then finally decided to run for president. We also saw the debates he had, and the campaign he had to go through while going for president. We additionally saw what changes he made during his presidential run, which included bringing peace to countries, reducing emissions and making more energy and investing more in defence, being the first person to do so in a long time. Finally, we saw the impact of his presidential run and what he did after being a president, which includes observing different presidential elections in countries, and writing books about his experiences. We also saw why and how he built this place, which was very interesting!

My favourite experience is how everything was set out, and the amount of detail put into this. The organisers have put various images, resources, and documents that have been used, to make this interesting. They have explained these terms in easy to understand words, so that anybody can understand. There are also interactive set ups, such as a remix of the presidential room, known as a white house, replicating what Jimmy kept in the room.

Overall, the Jimmy Carter Museum is a brilliant place to visit with kids, friends or on a holiday. You learn so much about history, what it takes to become a president, how to find solutions, and also how Jimmy Carter became one of the most loved presidents in the history of the United States.
